Tony Jaa = Bad Ass

Tony Jaa is a Thai actor/stuntman/martial arts expert. He is especially good at Muay Thai. Not that watered down version you see in the UFC. The type of Muay Thai that only a teacher in rural Thailand can teach you, cause it's illegal to use in fights. Tony's been in 3 movies that you must see.

Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior

Plot of the movie: Thai boy in a village is learning to be a monk, which also means he has to become proficient in Muay Thai, duh. Then this guy comes around and wants to buy the sacred statue that the village monk's worship, Ong Bak. Apparently there's a huge market for ancient artifacts in the black market. The monks say no, dude gets pissed and end's up stealing the statue anyway. Tony Jaa's character is supposed to go to the city and find this other guy who used to live in the village before he decided that being a monk kinda sucked. He has to find this guy so he can help him around the city so that he can find the dude who stole the statue. The city guy takes advantage of Tony's willingness to be helpful and makes Tony fight at a club for money. Eventually they find the dude who stole the statue and the rest of the movie is Tony Jaa planting elbows and knees in the faces of anyone who tries to stop him from getting the statue back. Sure the plot isn't that awesome, but the fight scenes are ridiculous.

The Protector

Plot of the movie: Tony plays a rural Thai country boy whose family raises elephants. Elephants are a big deal in Thailand, and the emperor or whatever of Thailand (sorry for sounding ignorant) buys only the finest of elephants so he can ride them and have them around and shit. Yet again some city folk come and try to steal the elephants from Tony and his family. The elephants end up fucking the guys day up, but not before one of the elephants gets shot. Tony and his dad eventually go to town to sell their best elephants. The dad goes into the fenced in selling area with his elephant, the emperor really digs the elephant so he buys him, and then the dad sees that the guy who's gonna take the elephant is none other than the dude who just tried to steal the elephant. Tony's dad get's pissed, tries to take the elephant back, and ends up getting shot. Everybody flees and Tony runs to his dad and gets pissed. While he's with his dad, Tony's baby elephant also gets stolen by the same guys. Pissing Tony Jaa off is a sure fire way to get an elbow to the skull. Tony finds out that the elephants are for some reason on their way to Australia which, unbeknownst to me, has a large Thai population. He goes to the city yet again, and kicks everyone's ass to get his elephant back and seek revenge.

Ong-Bak 2

Plot of the movie: Haven't seen it yet, as it's only been released in Asia. But from what I gather it's not too far removed from the plot of his other movies. Some asshole wants to flex his power so he sends out people to kill everyone in this one village. Tony is the only person that survives, but he's a kid. He ends up getting taken in by some group of bandits and shit and he ends up learning Thai Boxing and some other martial arts. Then he uses his skill to go on an ass kicking spree for revenge.

The best thing about his movies is that the fighting is real. There is no CGI, no wires, and no stuntmen. I mean, I'm sure he's not actually breaking peoples bones in that scene from The Protector I posted, but when he jumps through the air to knee a dude in the chest, he's really jumping through the air to knee a dude in the chest. Another movie that's out, that I got coming on NetFlix, is Chocolate. I dunno what the fuck chocolate has to do with the people in the movie, but anyway. It's a movie made by the same people who did Ong Bak. Only this time a girl plays the main character. The autistic main character. The plot of the movie is, again, not to far removed from any of Tony's work. She's autistic and somehow learns martial arts by watching shit-loads of kung-fu movies. Someone comes to kill her parents, but doesn't kill her. She get's pissed and goes on a killing spree of revenge. I'll post a review when ever I get to watch it. But here's the trailor anyway.
